Well, it has been raining for what seems like 2 weeks. Today the sun was setting and finally peeked below the gray clouds. And what are we graced with? The most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen. Right over our house! The camera doesn't really do it justice, but I have to show what I got anyway.

The colors were so intense!

Had to share!

It's Fall Y'all

First day of Fall. I suppose I can be ready. I really don't like to say goodbye to Summer, but I know time must move on. So I will be bringing out the oranges, reds, and yellows today to decorate the house in preperation for the coming cold air, the leaf burning, hot apple dumplings, cider, hayrides, sitting in front of a warm fireplace with my Hubby...... hmmmm....... Ok, I think I am ready.

Found a poem that seems like a good time to share.

Bonfire Days
Grace Strickler Dawson

Ho! for the leaves that eddy down,
Crumpled yellow and withered brown,
Hither and yonder and up the street
And trampled under the passing feet;
Swirling, billowing, drifting by,
With a whisper soft and a rustling sigh,
Starting aloft to windy ways,
Telling the coming of bonfire days.

Ho! for the rakes that young hands wield,
Gathering leaves from far afield,
Heaping them high and wide and long,
For the scurrying of feet, the snatch of song,
And the flurrying gust that all the while
Swishes the edge of the big, brown pile,
Ready to leap to a crackling blaze--
Ho! for the joys of bonfire days.

Ho! for the blue-gray smoke that curls
Suddenly skyward, then unfurls
A wide, dim mantle above the flare
Of the red flame's flash and the white flame's glare--
A blue-gray mantle that floats afar
Through the half-bare trees where the last leaves are,
And bears in its folds of gossamer haze
The pungent tang of the bonfire days.

Who is this handsome fellow?

BB started high school this year, and so far is really liking it. He joined JROTC and it just seems that he really enjoys it. Wednesdays are uniform days. So I had to get a snapshot before he took off today. "sniff" so grown up!! "sniff"

We love Sunrise Earth

Usually in the morning when the boys have gotten on their way for school, I will fix myself a cup of tea and relax watching Sunrise Earth. So peaceful. Just a beautiful sunrise somewhere in the world and the sounds of nature in the background. Such a nice way to wake up slowly to the world. Sophie likes this show too. She loves looking in the magic window at all the things she could bark at or chase. Sometimes she REALLY likes it. Hope she doesn't jump through the TV sometime. That would not be a good way to wake up to the world. This morning she is watching a moose swimming around in the water. She actually moved with the moose in order to try to keep up. LOVE this show! :)

The Fire's Out!

Well, hello again readers. I am back a few months later to entertain you with our latest stories. Let's catch up, shall we?
After LB's 12th birthday, we celebrated G-ma's birthday, mine and Hubby's anniversary, Hubby's birthday, Mother's Day, the end of the school year, vaca to see a new baby and the in-laws, Father's Day, Fourth of July, my All-Class reunion and here we are today. Whew! How about that for a sum-up? Of course, I won't have any pictures of any of those things because...well, I'm bad at keeping up. You kinda got that, huh?

Our latest little vaca was spent in our family cabin in the woods of PA. Such great and fond memories I have of this place. My G-pa built this cabin a looooooong time ago and I grew up making alot of trips there to enjoy the great outdoors and learn about said outdoors from my G-ma and G-pa. Me and my cousin had lots of fun times growing up around all that mountain stuff. Ahhhhhh nature.

I do have some pictures to share of our trip. We did so many things. Almost all of the things I used to do as a kid on our trips. Gotta keep things going down the family line, ya know? As I said before, I am bad at keeping up so I won't have a chronologically ordered album of all the activities, but here are the best ones...

This picture is of the boys in front of the Parker's Trading Post in Cook Forest, PA. I always had to go here everytime and beg my Grandparents or my Mom for those rain dance anklets. If you have seen them you know what I am talking about, if not... They are a strip of fake fur with bells attached by a leather lace. You tie them around your ankles and do your rain dance. When I finally did get my way, and got some, I rain danced so much, (I had to have driven Mom crazy with those bells), but it never worked for me. Although, I did look pretty cool! :)
Alas, they didn't have any in the store this time! But anyway, I suppose I wouldn't look as cool now since I am an adult and all.

Beartown Rocks was a must-do also when we were in the area. These rocks are HUGE! So much fun to climb. But a word of advice, make sure you plan your way down before you climb up. Just sayin'...

I love this next one...

There is a certain rock that has a lookout at the top and the view is just gorgeous. This pic doesn't do it justice, but to give you an idea...

Another cool place is the Fire Tower. And let's just say, you get great cell service from the top! There aren't many good spots to get a signal around there, but this would be one of them.

The view is spectacular! Now I have never really been afraid of heights, but let me tell you, I was holding on for dear life!

Looking down from the top...

So I started going down first, because well, I was ready to put my feet on the actual earth. As I am stepping down, I hear giggling...

Yeah, it was raining that day, but the small stream in the center of the picture was not part of the weather. And of all the great activities we got to do, THIS was the highlight of BB's trip. Next in line was the horseback riding. Really? And I must mention, it was not only BB's moment. You all didn't need the multi-stream view. Just do me a favor, if you go to the tower sometime, don't go around the back of the tower. At least they left the walking path clear. Sheesh! Men!

All in all, we had a great time and plan to go back again and again to keep passing along the tradition of staying at the cabin in the woods making our own memories. Hopefully there will be enough memories to top the "Firefighters" putting out fires from the tower.

I hope.

C'mon Spring!

Do you see what these kids have resorted to?

While waiting on the snow to melt from all of our big "storms of the century", the boys have gone back to their wee little days of finding the fun in common household items. Which I suppose is good for using their imaginations and all, but come on!

Poor kids.

Way to go BB!!

BB won this match at his last tournament tonight! We are so proud of our "wrastler"! He is the one in the bright red singlet, by the way. The video was put into 2 parts because of a long pause towards the end of the match. There was some "discussion" going on regarding points between coaches. He ended up winning 12-11 in overtime! Great job son!! :)
