Fun in the sun

Over the weekend we had lots of sunshine and heat. Yes, heat. Outside. Something we have been missing for quite a few months now. We had a great day on Saturday. We spent most of the time outside. All of us. We had a nice cookout with burgers and dogs and a picnic. We had squirt gun fights and I even made up some water balloons. I was going to share until I started getting attacked by the squirt guns. So I decided to keep it for my own ammo stash. Then we tried flying a kite. Yes, tried. It was fun trying. We then set up a tent in the back yard. The kids loved it. So we decided to camp out. We had a nice fire going and we all slept out in the back yard all night. It was a little cold in the morning because, come on, this is Ohio. Me and Hubby woke up at about 6am and decided to go back in to the house. In the real bed, with all the nice padding underneath of us. Yeah, my hips aren't as young as they used to be. It wasn't too bad because we did put down some padding. But it sure wasn't any pillowtop mattress, I'll tell you that. LB woke up when we unzipped the tent to get out, but BB loves to sleep. And this boy can sleep through anything.

Here he is still sleeping hard at 9am. You can just barely see his head through the window.

He did wake up about an hour or so after that. We all had so much fun, I think we will be doing this again in the summer.

Snack time

The other day I bought some frozen deep-fried mushrooms, because it only makes sense to deep-fry your veggies. And I decided to fry some up for a snack. While waiting for the grease to heat up, I was looking at the bag they came in:

And then I noticed the bottom of the bag has the description of the contents:

Battered!? Why those poor little mushrooms. They didn't do anything to harm anyone. Why on earth would someone be so cruel as to beat up some veggies and package them for all the world to see?

After I fried some up, took them out of the grease and put them into a bowl, I saw one mushroom looking up at me.

Maybe this one was happy that I saved it from being battered any more. Of course, stomach acid can't be much better.

They were good anyway.

Happy 17th to us!!

Today is our anniversary!! Mathmatically we have been married for 17 years. We kinda feel like it's only been about 5. Of course, that doesn't add up right considering we now have a teenager. eek. But still, we've been blessed.

We got to celebrate last weekend-because of work schedules and such. We ate at a very nice restaurant. Kind of upscale. Good food. Nice ambiance. And all of that class just can't sit still. Reality and humbleness reaches me as I sip from my wine glass. The wine proceeds to go down the "wrong pipe" as I taste, and then proceeds to shoot out of my mouth in a spraying fashion. Thankfully, I had my hand over my mouth and my wonderful Hubby got only a few sprinkles on his dark-colored clothing. My white skirt, however, fell victim to the largest of droplets and endured a long night of soaking in cold water and Stain Stick.

Nothing like a little humility to bring you off of that high pedestal, eh?

Other than that, we had a lovely night. :)

After 17 years, and two great boys later, we still have been having a good time with our lives together. And can't wait till the next 17 and more. And even though some challenges have come our way, we just keep going, keep praying, and keep thanking the Lord for all He has done for us.

I love you Hubby! Happy Anniversary!

Wii love bowling!

So we got a Wii for Christmas this past year. LB can't really figure out the controllers for the other game systems. I thought this would be a great thing to get him moving, along with the entertainment factor. He definitely CAN figure out this game. So far he loves the bowling game the most.

Now, I have gotten the chance to be on a bowling league this year for those of you who do not know. So I am ACTUALLY bowling......for real. My average is about 90-something. On Wii bowling my average is about 150 or so. LB has kicked all of our sorry butts here in this house. He even got himself a 230 game!! What's up with that? I bowl! Where's my high score? Shouldn't I be the one with the highest score since I do this for real every week?!

Anyway, here's a few pics of him playing.

Now I finally figured out how to get some video on here. I had to show you video because of his great technique. There is no audio. Just video.

And yes, that last play was a strike. He gets alot of those. Of course, the other ladies might talk if I use his method at the bowling alley. Then again, we all have our quirks.

Happy Birthday Dingy!

Yes, I am sorry Dingy, I have to embarrass you now since YOU are officially a teenager. I know your mom doesn't want to acknowledge that, but since I had to get over it, she should too.

Have a great day!

Me and BB were up late last night talking, and something got me thinking of walking funny. So I remembered this hilarious skit on Monty Python one time that had us rolling on the floor. We did a search on YouTube and found it. YouTube wouldn't let me post it on my blog. ( I suppose because of copyright stuff) So I could at least post a link to it.

Enjoy!

April is....

Autism awareness month. Break out your colorful ribbons and let everyone be aware. If you don't have a colorful ribbon, you can usually find some in the ribbon section of your local Jo-Ann Fabrics store.

Remember, Early Intervention is the best start for your child to get them coming back into our world. Keep working with your child and your child's teachers to get the best progress possible. Hopefully some day we can find out how this started and how we can end it.
